Mission Statement

SOM exists to empower orphans and caretakers to meet their spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical needs in order to live a productive life in their communities.

The purpose of SAVE ORPHANS MINISTRIES is to empower orphans and caretakers to meet their spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical needs in order to live a productive life in their communities. SOM helps to equip them and acquire skills so that in turn they have a normal share and equal opportunities to improve their living in the community. This is achieved through:

Integration: SOM shall build and/or repair homes of orphans so that the orphans remain with their own people and as much as possible and subject to their best interests, within their own communities.

Independence: SOM shall provide the orphans with farm implements and seed, and any other tools to enhance their independence and productivity.

Reduction in numbers of Orphans: SOM shall carry out AIDS awareness campaigns among orphans and communities in order to reduce AIDS cases in the community and to produce, among the orphans, parents who will take care of their own children.

Nurturing Services: SOM shall provide spiritual support to all who request such assistance on individual or group basis through study, prayer, role playing, and/or games.

Our Goal

Our goal is to have orphans and caretakers in Malawi living dignified and productive lives. This is achieved through:

Identifying the deserving beneficiaries for SOM's work.

Providing the identified beneficiaries with some basic needs of life, such as the Word of God, food, and clothing.

Assisting those who are of school-going age and those who can be trained to attend school and/or skills training in order for them to be self-reliant and productive citizens.

Encouraging the communities to be responsible for the welfare of orphans and others that may deserve in their local environment.

Supporting relationships among orphans and in the communities where they are based.

Helping in construction and maintenance of low cost housing and community learning and skill training centres.

Participating in encouraging community food production and security projects by supplying materials and technical support.
